Bobby Glynn Grisham passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, just one month shy of his 90th birthday. A beloved father, educator, coach, and businessman, Bobby’s life was defined by quiet strength, humble leadership, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Bobby was born in Midway, Texas, to Thomas Newton Grisham and Mary Elizabeth Depue on May 29, 1935. He grew up in Huntsville, Texas, where he graduated from Huntsville High School. A gifted athlete, Bobby went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University, where he was a four-year letterman in track and football and was named All Lone Star Conference halfback for the undefeated Bearkats in 1956. He was later inducted into Sam Houston’s Hall of Honor in 1979 for his outstanding football accomplishments. He earned his Master of Education in Secondary and Elementary Administration from Texas A&M University, as well as certifications in supervision and superintendency from the University of Houston and Texas Southern University.
After beginning his career at Cedar Hill High School, Bobby went on to coach under legendary coach Bum Phillips at Groves Junior High in Port Neches-Groves. He later coached at Bryan High School and Deer Park High School, where he became head football coach in 1970. He went on to serve as principal of Deer Park High School and eventually retired as Assistant Superintendent for the district. After his career in education, he became a successful commercial real estate developer as the owner of Grisham & Associates Properties, Inc.
Bobby made his home in Deer Park, Texas, and also cherished his time in Canyon Lake and Rockport. His legacy lives on through his wife of forty-two years, Linda LeBoeuf Grisham, and his beloved children: Cherie Grisham; Terri Anderson and husband Alan Burkhart; Renee Coleman and husband Guy; Tommy Grisham and wife Connie; and Darren Chandler and wife Robin. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas Newton Grisham and Mary Elizabeth Depue; his eight brothers and sisters: Cora Crocker, Ethel Mae Reynolds, Ruby Jones, Homer Grisham, Dorothy Murphy, Grover “GT” Grisham, Vera Troncin, and Lena Malone; and his son, Douglas Wade Chandler.
Bobby was a proud grandfather to Eric, Alex, and Austin Anderson; Dylan Shuler; Kalie O’Grady; Casey O’Grady; Shannon Giamanco and husband, Keenan; Natalie Grun and husband, David; Dakota Chandler and wife, Blair; Matthew Dillon Chandler; Sarah Chandler; Austin Welch; Caitlin Guzman and husband, Mark; Caroline Shelton and husband, Blake; and Hayden Smith. He was also the great-grandfather of Carter Anderson; Bennie and Emery Grun; Anniston and Deacon Chandler; Camille, Parker, Penelope, and Phoebe Guzman; and Emma Shelton. He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Greyson Shuler and Gus Leber.
As a quiet but powerful leader, Bobby inspired others through action rather than words. Whether on the football field or in business, he empowered those around him to believe in themselves and rise to their full potential. He lived with joy, always wore a smile, and most of all, was a devoted husband and father whose strength, values, and love shaped the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
