Donald Norman Coward passed away on September 26, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 27, 1938, in Deridder, Louisiana, to parents Norman and Mimi Gene Coward. He is leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength. Born with a curious mind and a generous heart, Don pursued his education at Lee College, earning an associate’s degree in Drafting. He put that knowledge to good use throughout a dedicated and skilled career—first as a Pipefitter with Local Union #211, later as a Sign Administrator for the City of Pasadena, and finally as an API Inspector. In every role, he was known not just for his technical skill but for his honesty, work ethic, and willingness to lend a hand.
More than his professional achievements, Don’s true pride and joy was his family. He was the devoted husband of Judy Coward, his loving partner for 61 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of shared adventures, deep respect, and unconditional love.
Don was a loving father to Donald Wayne Coward, Crystal Coward, and Kimberly Coward Altman. His children knew him as a steady presence—always there with a quiet word of encouragement, a listening ear, or a well-timed joke. To his grandchildren, he was “Dad” to Jonathan Keith, Morgan Lindsey, and “Papa” to Sarah Altman, and nothing made him light up more than time spent with them. Whether telling stories, fixing things, or simply sitting and talking, he made sure each of them felt truly seen and deeply loved.
He is survived by his brother James Robert Coward, and preceded in death by brother Earl Wayne Coward with whom he shared many treasured memories.
Outside of work and family, Don found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved sailing—feeling the wind on his face and the peaceful rhythm of the water. He could often be found tinkering in his shop, fixing things just for the satisfaction of making them work again. A proud member of the Masonic Lodge, he lived by the values of integrity, service, and community.
Don will be remembered for his humorous storytelling, life of the party attitude, and the quiet wisdom he carried with him. He made the world a little better with his presence—and those lucky enough to know him will carry his memory in their hearts always.
A visitation will be held on October 4, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505. A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00 am.
