EDWARD EUGENE PAVEY, 56, was born on May 17, 1966 in Houston, TX, passed away on November 15, 2022 in Pasadena, TX. Edward was a very happy child who traveled and lived in different cities with his family while his father served in the Army until the age of five then lived in Houston where he enjoyed being a Boy Scout, camping, visiting his grandparents and spending time with his best friend David.
Ed attended Eisenhower High School, and graduated in 1984. It was there where acquired a love for cars and learned how to repair them. His friend Mitch introduced Ed to the Automotive Aftermarket industry and they worked together part-time since 1982 then full-time in 1987. Ed started his career at Hi-Lo Auto Supply then worked for Fischer’s Auto Supply. Ed felt a calling to serve his country and joined the Army for four years, from 1993 to 1997. Shortly afterwards he met and married his wife, Karla, in 1999 while working at US Parts. He then worked for XL Parts, O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, NAPA Auto Parts and then back at XL Parts.
Ed enjoyed his work very much because it gave him an opportunity to meet and serve many customers who became friends along the way. Ed excelled in his field and recently earned the salesperson of the month and store of the month awards along multiple other recognitions at every company he worked for. He was a loving and supportive husband who adored his wife, but the one thing he loved most was being a father to Victoria, who was born in 2001.
Edward loved to read books to Victoria even before she was born then became an instant volunteer alongside Karla for all activities that Victoria participated in. Whether it was teaching little church, hosting a booth at school carnivals, walking with her to sell Girl Scout cookies, driving for church choir and youth trips, playing Santa Claus for High School events, and many more activities, Ed was always there to love and support her. Ed was very happy to see Victoria receive her college ring from Texas State University and turn 21 this past summer.
Edward was very happy when he was in a position to lend a hand to his sisters, nieces, and nephews and supported multiple causes throughout the years. Wherever he was, he was always a member of a local church, attending Bible study and Sunday school and serving in multiple capacities. He truly loved spending time with family and friends and in his free time enjoyed reading western novels, watching John Wayne movies, and listening to classic rock and Christian music.
Ed was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Albert and Elizabeth Pavey; maternal grandparents John and Janice Deason; mother Jane Deason Pavey; Uncle Albert Pavey, Jr; Aunt Jeanette Hooper; and brother-in-law Norman Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karla Garcia Pavey, his daughter Victoria Elizabeth Pavey, his father, Eugene Baker Pavey; his two sisters and their spouses: Ellen and Gilbert Gardemal and Elaine and Charles Russell; his six nieces and nephews and their spouses: James E. Jackson, Brian L. Jackson, Christopher and Amber Rose Jackson, Shaun A. Jackson, Brianna and Cameron Carrier and Kerry Ann Russell; and his eight great-nieces and nephews: Kyrie Grace Jackson, Avalynn Rose Jackson, Evan Lee Jackson, Othello Lee Jackson, Sophie Althea Jackson and Pearl Rose Avalynn Jackson, Julietta Jane Russell and Addison Carrier. Uncle Arlee, Aunt Elizabeth, Cousin Karl Leifeste, Cousins Steve and Calvin Pavey, Uncle Kenneth and Cousin Kirk Hooper, Cousin Debra Sala, Uncle Jerry, Aunt Ann and Cousin Steven Deason and their respective families, also survive him.
Karla and Victoria Pavey would like to give a special thanks to the following: Dr. Jorge Rodriguez, Dr. Raul Garcia and Dr. Mohammed Quraishi all practicing in Pasadena, TX, for the most-excellent care they provided to Ed during his six-year battle with cancer, the staff at AccentCare Hospice and at The Reserve at Pasadena who provided end-of-life care, the Seekers Sunday School Class and staff at South Main Baptist Church for their encouragement, prayers and gifts, the XL Parts team and the Tegeler Career Center staff for their strong support and to all family and friends for their prayers, calls, text messages, cards, visits and gifts.
Ed cherished his mother’s love and truly believed dogs were man’s best friend. We wholeheartedly believe Ed is enjoying the company of his mother, grandparents and his many dogs in heaven today.
