

Elvin H Praytor, 87, of Pasadena, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2013. Born on January 31, 1926 in El Campo, Texas to Henry Middleton Praytor and Hazel Luetta Praytor (Nixon). Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Dot) Mae Praytor; daughter Linda Sue Miller and husband Mark; sons, Larry Melvin Praytor and wife Mary; Keith Elvin Praytor and wife Karen; grandchildren Jennifer Ann Braunstein and husband Harry, John Marshal Miller and wife Lindsay, Barbara (Barbie) Jane Villarreal and husband Danny, Kathryn (Katey) Eileen Praytor, Kevin Lee Praytor and wife Sarah and Scott Nicholas Praytor; 4 great-grandchildren, Lucas Nicholas Braunstein, Abraham Herman Braunstein, Callie Nicole Miller, and Tyler Marshall Praytor. Elvin was a member of First Christian Church of El Campo, Texas, Alief Community Church and First Christian Church of Pasadena (FCCP), Texas from 1963 – 2013. While a member of FCCP, he served the Lord in many ways. He was Board Chair, Elder, Deacon, Chancel Choir Member, Sunday School teacher, Christian Adult Fellowship President, Chi Rho Sponsor (youth group), and he was a Worship Leader. Elvin proudly served in the US Army during World War II from 1944-46 with the 158th Infantry/147th Field Artillery. He received a Purple Heart while in Luzon Island, Philippines and also received recognition for Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific with 3 stars signifying 3 major battles/campaigns including a beachhead entry, Philippine Liberation and Korean Conflict. He also conducted medical research during the Korean War at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He was very proud of his accomplishments while serving in the US Army and especially serving the Lord but he was most proud of his greatest accomplishment, his family. He enjoyed playing bridge and dominoes, reading, golfing, fishing and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and dear friends. He will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena.
