Garnett Eugene McClanahan (known lovingly as Mac), 95, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1930, in Yoakum, Texas, to James Leo and Eulalia McClanahan, who raised him with the steady values he carried throughout his life.
Garnett graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Yoakum in 1948.
In 1954, Garnett married Irene Evelyn Mućola, and together they welcomed three children: Darlene, Elizabeth, and Glen. In 1989, he married Elizabeth Stewart, and the two shared more than three decades of devoted partnership.
Garnett honorably served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic, a chapter that shaped his discipline, patience, and quiet resilience.
After his military service, he began a 42 year career at Lubrizol as a pipefitter and later a foreman. He was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and the kind of humor that always landed at just the right moment.
A man of simple joys, Garnett loved traveling with his wife. Their adventures together were among his most cherished memories. He enjoyed spirited games of dominoes where his competitive streak always showed, and he found deep satisfaction in farm life, woodworking, yard work, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eulalia McClanahan, his first wife, Irene, and his siblings Dorothy, Paul, Murl, John, and Lucy (Aunt Sis).
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his children Darlene and husband Joe, Elizabeth, Glen and wife Christine, Rhonda and Jason Weaver, Stuart, and Renee, as well as his 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 21 nieces and nephews, and his extended family who will forever cherish his stories, his stubborn grin, and the quiet steadiness he brought into their lives.
Garnett lived a long and meaningful life, marked by resilience, love, laughter around kitchen tables, and the gentle presence of a man who never needed to be loud to leave a lasting impact.
