

Harry was born on January 16,1937 in Richwood, West Virgina, and was the son of the late Letcher McNeil Porter and Hilda Marian (Riley) Porter. In addition to his parents’, he is proceeded by his brother Robert Allen Porter, daughter, Ramonia Jane Woolverton and granddaughter, Heather Ann Hammers and recently his loving wife of 32 years, Nancy.
Harry is survived by two daughters, Joyce Porter-Ott and husband John of Baytown, Texas and Jeannie Hollenbacher of Baytown, Texas, two stepdaughters, Christine Hoyle and husband Randy of Lincolnton North Carolina and Valerie Marcott and husband Troy of LaPorte Texas: seven grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips, Amber Smith, Forrest Woolverton, Johnelle Waggoner, Shannon Hoyle, Kasey Isenhour and Courtney Allen: nine great grandchildren and one nephew and three nieces.
Upon graduation from Richwood, West Virginia High School Harry served four years in the United States Air Force in Langley, VA. He then moved to Houston, Texas to join the NASA Johnson Space Center and retired in 1992 after 35 years of service. Harry was the Johnson Space Center Printing Officer and managed the Printing Department. His department provided printing support for the Manned Space Flight programs including Gemini, Mercury and Apollo flights and later the Space Shuttle and Space Station Missions.
Harry was very proud of his career with the Space Program and after his retirement from NASA he started his own business, Porter’s Promotional Products. He was a member of Houston Printing Association, National Management Association, Houston Promotional Products Association and Bay Area Networking Group. He was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Rotary Club international and a serial blood donor giving over 35 gallons of blood to the Houston Blood Bank.
A Celebration of Life service will be on Thursday, February 26,2026 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 5354 Space Center Blvd. Pasadena, Texas, officiated by Pastor Gregg Taylor and Pastor Lindsay Kirkpatrick.
