On September 19, 1933 in a rural little town in southeast Missouri named Gideon, a true angel was born into the family of the Reverend George Wesley Pinnon and Jessie Mae Pinnon, her name was Helen Miranda Davidson. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Helen was truly special. Her father, the Reverend Pinnon was a selfless servant to anyone in his community and was always willing to sacrifice his own needs in the service of others. This selfless attitude was deeply ingrained into Helen, who dedicated her life to the service of others, often forgoing her own needs and comfort to ensure everyone had what they needed or if not, she would move heaven and earth to help them.
Helen continued her lifelong service to others when she married the Reverend Paul J. Davidson, to whom she remained fiercely loyal and totally dedicated to until her death did them depart after over sixty-four (64) years of marriage. She faithfully followed her husband Paul in the service of others as he moved to various states to wherever a church needed leadership and could use their help.
One of Helen Davidson’s proudest accomplishments was seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow into fine young men and women who followed her excellent example. She was the greatest mother any child could ask for, making each of her children; sons Paul and Matt Davidson, daughters Janice Dyal, Debbie Bohannon, and Lisa Davidson each feel like they were the best and most special children in the world. She was always loving, patient and kind and would do anything in her power for any of her children.
Helen was the epitome of the public servant, and her example and attitude was instilled in her family. She was always proud to tell everyone who would listen about the public servants in her family, always wanting to talk about her two sons and her son-in-law who serve as law enforcement officers.
Helen’s selfless sacrifice and service to others did not stop there, at an age when most are slowing down, after having raised her five children; Helen selflessly took on three (3) more young charges. Helen welcomed her three (3) grandsons, J.L. McNew, Mickey Blagg and Jarrod Blagg into her home shortly after each was born and showered them with the same unconditional love and affection she had shown her children. All three are examples of this exceptional woman’s love and guidance; all have grown to be fine, outstanding young men with families of their own.
Helen Miranda Davidson was not only the greatest wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was the same to everyone she met; whether you met her at church or anywhere else, she was everyone’s mom. She had a beautiful, infectious smile that could soften the hardest heart and brightened every room she entered.
Prior to experiencing declining health, she was happiest whenever she could have the entire clan over for the best dumplings and fried chicken, followed by the best banana pudding ever.
Left behind to mourn her loss, but confident in the knowledge she has gone to a better place are her husband Paul J. Davidson, sons Paul R. Davidson and Matthew Eric Davidson, daughters Janice Dyal, Debbie Bohannon, and Lisa Davidson; her brother Wayne Pinnon, sister Fannie Redfern, son-in-law’s T.J. Bohannon and Vince Dyal, daughters-in-law Gigi Davidson and Beckie Davidson, and a host of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her beautiful smile and will forever realize we are all better off for having this special woman in each of our lives.
