Howard L. Myers Sr.

He was a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Texas. He was a rancher on a Grade A dairy and beef ranch in Greensboro, Alabama. Howard married the love of his life Patricia Joyce Greenway on April 7, 1953 in Gallion, Alabama.

Howard was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 12, 1954 and served during the Korea-Viet Nam War, retiring after 22 years in August 1975 as a First Sergeant (E-8). Howard worked in the maritime industry for 32 years, retiring in 1990. He then moved to Leon County and spent his time raising goats and cattle.

In his free time Howard was very active as a volunteer and supporter of various organizations and causes benefiting education, welfare, health and safety of the young and elderly, and those in need. The Lord’s Pantry of Leon County, “People Helping People” was considered his mission and God’s will. Matthew 25: 34-40

He was preceded in death by his parents Willard Henry Myers and Leila Anna Knowles Myers, brothers Willard Harrison Myers and Douglas Rolph Myers, and sister Leila Harriett (Myers) Platt.

Left to cherish Howard’s memory are his devoted wife Patricia Myers, daughter Jana Lynda (Myers) Phelps and husband Steve and son Howard Leslie Myers Jr. and wife Mary. Grandchildren: Christie Lynn (Myers) Rager and husband Daniel, Leslie Rebecca (Becky) Phelps and Luke Feldmeier, Jason Ashley Myers, John Lester (Johnny) Phelps and wife Kimberly, and Bethany Marie Phelps Lepretre and husband Kegan. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Korbin Daniel Rager, Easton Grace Elliott, Klayton James Rager, William Austin Phelps, Harper Jane Carlisle, Leighton Rose Carlisle, Jace Joseph Feldmeier, Olivia Rey Lepretre, and Sawyer Kaye Phelps and sister Grace Lucille (Myers) Roland.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 from 9:00AM to 10:00AM with a Celebration of Howard's life beginning at 10:00AM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. Immediately following he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
