

Irene was born and raised in Three Rivers, Michigan. There she spent her childhood and young adult years making many memories with her seven siblings. In her early twenties she and four of her sons began a life in Texas, where she had two more children. She spent many years diligently working for the Deer Park Independent School District, from where she retired.
Her Deer Park home became the hub for family from Texas, Michigan & Louisiana to gather. Her family has many memories of filling her home for Saturday morning family breakfasts or a big family fish fry. She was a great cook and loved hosting family. She was fondly known as Mother, Grandma, Mammaw & Aunt Irene to so many who loved her.
Irene was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and very proud great-grandmother. She could often be found telling a great-grandchild that if they wanted to run away, they could hide at her house. She loved the Lord and learning about Him. She devoted herself to studying the Bible and was a valuable part of her senior Sunday school class at First Baptist Pasadena where she had been a member since the 1980s.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her seven siblings, and her sons Roger Bender and Fred Bender. She is survived by her children, Don Bender, Stan Bender, Patty House, Wesley House, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family is thankful for her ultimate healing in the Lord’s arms.
A visitation will be held on December 6, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A committal service will take place at3:00, also at Grand View Funeral Home. A reception will be held afterwards from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the same venue.
