James Donald Beck born October 20, 1951, age 73, left this life Saturday, June 7, 2025 to be with His Lord and Savior. Known to close family as “Don” or “Donald”, as “Beck” at work and “James” at church, Don was a faithful Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Don was a hard worker for the City of Pasadena, up to retirement and beyond, in a part time capacity for as much as he could serve. In his younger adult years, Don participated as a clown at community events, delivering balloon animals to children. Don also had accomplished a nice collection of Emmett Kelly, Jr. clown figurines. Don loved serving as Umpire for league baseball in Pasadena for several years. Don also had a seemingly effortless knack for gardening vegetables. He shared an assortment of collard greens, peppers, and tomatoes with neighbors, family, and other friends.
Don was unique, and his life was never easy nor handed to him. However challenging, Don did the best he could for his wife and family. As a proud resident of Pasadena, Don loved detailing his work at the parks and the people who visited. He knew his way about the town and was always ready with directions for all. While Don suffered health complications later on, he contributed to his family through his work, and he worked through his health complications privately and to the best of his ability. He was one to always do all he could and to never give up. There will never be another James Donald Beck, and he will be remembered and missed by those who loved him, especially by his loving wife who has cared for him each and every day, and who honorably took him to receive care, up until his soul left this Earth.
Donald is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Frederick Beck and Emily Evelyn Burke, his Brother Kenneth Beck, and his Stepson, Charles Patterson.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Maxine Beck; his Grandson Zackary, who he and Maxine raised as their own; Stepson Sterling and wife Lisa; Stepson Danny; Granddaughters Christina Patterson, Delanie Briones, and Desiree Patterson; God Daughter Sonya Berthelot; Brother Bryan Beck and wife Carolyn, Nephews Richard and Doug and two nieces; Sister RuthAnn Beck, Nephew Max and Niece Meaghan.
