

He was born in Stony Point, North Carolina to Davis Montgomery Cockrell and Mabel Alice Cockrell. He was the youngest of twelve children. He retired from ASARCO after many years of service. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired at the age of 52 and enjoyed his years, playing golf, travelling with our mom and their many friends. He and mom had a love like no other and as we have been told by so many, they were a beautiful love story.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Lucille, two grandchildren, Lindsay Harryman and Christopher Laws.
Jimmy leaves behind his five children and their spouses, David and Gayle Gulley, Melody and Archie McBride, Nila and Rodney Harryman, Nancy and Charlie Sammons, and Karen and John Inocencio; grandchildren, Shane Laws, Shannon Harryman, Joshua Gulley, Jordan Clark, Jeremy Gulley, and Leah Condon; numerous great- grandchildren; brother, Charles Ernest Cockrell of Statesville, North Carolina; sister, Minnie Mae Sims of Deer Park, Texas and numerous family members in North Carolina.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home.
