Jimmy Lee McDonald was born October 17, 1940, in Breckenridge, TX, and soon moved to Cisco, TX, a place he called his hometown for the rest of his life. He graduated from Cisco High School in May1959 and enjoyed annual celebrations with his graduating class every October with their reunions. He went on after high school to serve in the National Guard.
From there, Jimmie found his vocational calling as an electrician with Exxon Pipeline, a job and company he truly loved. He not only made long lasting friendships, he also loved his work and especially his coworkers. Long after his retirement, he would still only use Exxon gas, even when it meant a 10 mile detour. He loved his hobbies that included cross country motorcycle rides, piloting small aircraft, and hunting wild game across the country.
In 1990, he married his soulmate Jody. He immediately became a step Dad and Grandfather, or rather a PawPaw. He went from being terribly awkward holding a baby to being an amazing grandfather to five grandchildren. He became their biggest fan, attending almost every football, baseball, basketball, soccer and lacrosse games, as well as band and choir concerts, and dance recitals. Rain or shine and near or far, he was such a constant attendee, that he was known to other parents simply as PawPaw.
Over time, he also moved from being a step dad to being our father in every way that matters.
Our PawPaw, Jimmie Lee McDonald, will be remembered by his family as the most generous, humble, caring, kind and devoted man we’ve ever known. We are so grateful he chose to adopt us all.
PawPaw was preceded in death by his father, Lee McDonald, mother Mamie McDonald, sister Sue, and wife Joedda. He is survived by his son Frank and his wife Michele, daughter Lisa, and grandchildren EJ, Megan, Aaron, Jenny and Brady, and great grandchildren Chloe, Zaiden, Emma and Izaiah. He also leaves behind his best friend Rita Jordan. He was a member of Bayshore Baptist Church, where he also served as the official church sign changer, another job he also loved.
PawPaw passed away November 4, 2020, at home surrounded by his kids and every grandchild, knowing he was loved and with the confidence he was walking to his Heavenly reward for his faith in the Lord and a life well lived.
