

Born on February 24, 1953, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Judy was raised in Leonville, Louisiana, where she developed the strong character and resilience that defined her life. A proud alumnus of J.S. Clark High School in Opelousas, Louisiana, she excelled in basketball and track, showcasing her intelligence, physical strength, and competitive spirit from a young age.
Seeking new opportunities, Judy moved to Houston, Texas, where she attended nursing school and began a dedicated 30-year career as a nurse, touching countless lives with her compassion and care. Her commitment to helping others led her to earn a Dietician's Certification, after which she served with distinction as head dietician at multiple assisted living and senior care facilities. Later in life, she founded Brown's Check-Cashing and Bill Paying Services, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and desire to support her community.
Judy was an avid reader with a deep love for knowledge and stories. She was an exceptional cook and baker, filling her home with the comforting aromas of homemade meals that brought people together. Above all, she was an extraordinarily loving mother, grandmother, and matriarch—a fierce defender of her family who welcomed everyone with open arms, kind words, and a warm meal. Her home was a place of refuge, laughter, and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joseph Eric Brown; her parents, Lawrence and Lena Brown; her husband, Joseph Lester Brown; her siblings Virgie Mae Davis, Joseph Brown, Doris Brown, Charles Brown, Clara Mae Auzenne, Paul Brown, Leon Brown, Nathan Brown, Willie Brown, Mary Brown, Joyce Mae Stelly, Lawrence Brown, Jr., Shirley Brown, Dalton Brown, and Michael Brown; her godchildren Kevin Brown and Harold Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and close associates.
Judy is survived by her devoted daughters, Tonia Brown of Pasadena, Texas and Charlotte Brown, of Deer Park, Texas; her son, Kenneth Brown (Jin) of Houston, Texas; her cherished grandchildren Justin Brown, Crystal Melendez (Angel), Dante Brown, Kenneth Brown, Jr., Bryant Brown, Deondre Brown, Andrew Brown, Owen Brown, Anne-Marie Brown, Norah Brown, Noah Brown, and Stephen Brown; her great-grandchildren Alyce Melendez and Ayden Melendez; her sisters-in-law Delia Brown and Josephine Brown; a host of godchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.
Judy Ann Brown's legacy of love, strength, service, and hospitality will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the heart of her family and a beacon of kindness and strength to everyone she encountered.
Visitation will be held on February 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Grand View Funeral Home, Yellow Rose Chapel, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 pm. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
