

Manuel Ybarra Gonzales passed away on March 29, 2013 in Houston, TX at the age of 87. He was born on June 10, 1925 in Deepwater, TX to Valente and Bertha Gonzales. Manuel has been a resident of Pasadena, TX since 1955. He worked as a crane operator and retired from Parker Brothers. Manuel was a true American patriot and proud veteran of the United States Navy, he always had the United States flag flying in front of his home. He was a long time member of St. Juan Diego Catholic Church, and the American Legion Post 521. Manuel enjoyed many activities such as gardening, and watching sports. He was a devout fan of the Houston Astros. Manuel had a fantastic sense of humor. He shared many tall tales with his family and friends and was admired greatly. He had a kind and caring heart and spent time visiting people that were hospitalized. His memory will be cherished by all those that knew and loved him.
Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Valente Gonzales and Bertha Ybarra Gonzales; his wife of 47 years and mother of his children, Aurora B. Gonzales; 1 daughter, Josie Gonzales; 6 brothers, Valente Gonzales, John Gonzales, Dan Gonzales, Robert Gonzales, Vincent Gonzales, and Jesse Gonzales; 3 sisters, Margaret Llamas, Patsy Medrano, and Carmen Segura. He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Jovita Davila; 3 sons, John Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, and Alfred Gonzales; 3 daughters, Margie Fernandez and her husband Albert, Patsy Hernandez and her husband David, Connie Sexton and her husband Darrell; 2 sisters, Virginia Lozano and her husband Bernardino, Mary Lozano and her husband Gabriel; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Grand View Funeral Home on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Grand View Memorial Park where Manuel will be laid to rest with Military Honors. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations in memory of Manuel Ybarra Gonzales may be made to the Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
