Mary Eliza Johnson

Mary Eliza Johnson, of Deer Park, Texas, went to be with her Lord & Savior on January 25, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on May 9, 1939, in Gallion, Louisiana, to John Henry Broadway and Mayzell Barton Broadway, Mary led a life filled with love, dedication, and service.

Mary was married to Jerry Johnson for 56 wonderful years, building a family and a life together that was rooted in mutual respect and devotion. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as cooking and tending to her beloved flowers and plants. Gardening was not just a hobby for Mary, but a passion that brought beauty and tranquility to her surroundings.

Mary was a long-time member of Underwood Baptist Church, formerly Glenwood Baptist Church. Her faith and dedication to her church were evident in her active participation and the many lives she touched through her service.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents John Henry Broadway and Mayzell Broadway, husband Jerry Johnson, sisters Clara May Broadway, Marie Odom, Irene Gentry, and brothers Henry Broadway and Jimmy Broadway.

Left to cherish Mary's memory are her son Carl Johnson and wife Lori of Deer Park, granddaughter Ashley Robinette and husband Ryan of Shore Acres, great-grandson Luke Robinette, and sisters-in-law Marjorie Johnson of Deer Park and Joyce Broadway of Dallas as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary Eliza Johnson will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the cherished memories she leaves behind with her family and friends.
