

Mary Lou McDaniel age 81, of Deer Park, TX passed away on July 12 at 10:30 pm at St. John's Methodist Hospital in Nassau Bay with her family by her side. Mary Lou was born on December 8, 1932 in Cincinnatti, Ohio, the youngest daughter of the late David and Susan Schiering. Mary Lou met and soon married Marvin Franklin McDaniel (Frank) on December 17, 1955. Shortly after they married, they moved to RAF Wethersfield, an US Air Force base, located in Essex, England.
Upon returning to the United States she lived on or near air force bases in Little Rock, Arkansas and Mountain Home, Idaho. Finally moving to Texas where they lived in San Antonio, Amarillo, and Abilene eventually settling in Deer Park.
Upon arriving in Houston, Mary Lou found employment at the Houston Astrodome as a PBX operator. While working at the Astrodome she became a devoted fan of the Houston Astros and since that time has rarely ever missed an Astros game. Wanting to commute closer to home she left the Astrodome and went to work at AC Collins Ford where she spent the next 20+ years until she retired in 1997. In addition to her devotion of the Houston Astros she was also an avid fan of her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She was often seen debating with fans of other NFL teams and always promoted the success of her Cowboys even when they were not performing at their best.
She was preceded in death by her father David Schiering, her mother Susan Schiering, her husband Marvin “Frank” McDaniel, her brothers Robert and Erwin Schiering, her grandson, Derek Blackard as well as her best friends Jim and Lillian Hodges. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Agnew, her sister-in-laws, Betty and Shirley Schiering, her son, George Steven McDaniel and his wife Suzanne, Daughter, Sharon Rose McDowell and her husband Patrick, her son, Dale Edward McDaniel, her daughter, Donna Lee McDaniel and Grand Children, Matthew McDaniel, Kimberly and Jason Oehrlein, Anthony "Chase" McDaniel, Dylan Blackard, Mark and Becca McDaniel, Megan McDaniel, Eric McDaniel, Julianna McDaniel, Maddison McDaniel and 3 great grandchildren ,Scarlett, Sawyer and Taylor and many loving nieces, nephews and good friends.
