She was born to Albert and Vera Bilton on November 28, 1937 in Kerens, Texas. She grew up in Wortham, Texas with 5 of her 9 brothers and sisters.
After Nell graduated Wortham High School she left to attend Wayland College in Plainview. She ended up leaving college after a year to marry the love of her life. Nell and Jodie married on August 3, 1957. They left for a honeymoon to El Paso to visit family. Along the way dad asked mom if she had any money as he was out. As luck would have it, their car broke down in El Paso, dad had to get a job and 5 years later they moved to the Deer Park area with 2 kids in tow, Rhonda and Randy. The family joined First Baptist Church Deer Park 55 years ago, and mom has been active ever since. If there was one word to describe Nell, it would be servant, whether it was family, friends or church. She served on the bereavement committee, taught 4th Grade Sunday School Classes, assisted with youth as Rhonda and Randy grew up and her latest joy was decorating for the Thursday Night Silver Set Dinner. She is known as Nanny Nell to her grandkids, their friends and neighbors and all of the many sport teams along the way. She is a loved mom, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She held all titles well.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jodie; grandson, Randy Jr. Also, by brothers, Vernon Bilton, Henry Bilton, Herbert Bilton; sisters, Lou Bates, Marge Yerkes, Bea Parker and Dorothy Dillman.
Nell is survived by her children, Randy Shetter, Rhonda Shetter Kesterson (David); brother, Bill Bilton (Elna); grandchildren, Tiffany Bedrich (Lincoln), Ryan Shetter, Erica Kesterson, Lauren Garcia (Jeremy) and Chase Kesterson; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Nolan, Scarlett, Ana; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
We know that mom is in Heaven rejoicing with all those that have gone before her. We will see her again! Well done good and faithful servant.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
