On March 8, 2021, we lost a mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Melinda Lee Coleman succumbed to the disease at 66 after a brief struggle. She passed at peace and in comfort undergoing palliative care at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, TX.
Melinda is survived by her daughter Kristen Callahan-Fluellen, son-in-law Shannon Fluellen and grandson Felix Fluellen of Houston TX; son Robert Clay Callahan and son-in-law Zeke Losch of Denver CO as well as her uncle Larry Bland, nephew Jeffrey McCoy, brother-in-law Bruce McCoy and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents John Earl Coburn and Mildred Coburn, her sister Coleen McCoy, her brother David Coburn and her husband Jerry Callahan.
Melinda was a great friend and fierce defender of those she loved. She enjoyed playing dominoes and cards and visiting with friends and talking about her grandson, Felix. Melinda dealt with many health struggles through her life but always kept going and maintained hope that the good days would outnumber the bad.
Under the continuing sad circumstances of the pandemic, no in-person memorial services will be held at this time. Messages and memories can be left as part of this digital memorial and will bring comfort to her surviving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the following charitable group in her memory.
