Michael Logan Wood, age 32, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022. He was born March 9, 1990 in Pasadena, TX. He is survived by his daughter, Aubree Marie, the joy of his life; his father, Joe Michael Wood, wife Stephanie; his mother, Patricia Williams, husband Glenn; his sister, Rachel Fillman, husband Andrew and their children, Elliet and Colton; his sister Emily Creel, husband JC and their daughter Shay; step-sister Lauren Bray, husband Jason and their daughters Calista & Quinn; step-sister Heather Patterson, husband Rick, and their children, Caitlyn, Joshua, Ethan & Graysen; two aunts, an uncle, and several cousins; his girlfriend, Colleen Hollman, and her son, Tanner; and many, many friends.
Michael grew up in the Deer Park area, graduating from Deer Park High School in 2008. Following the legacy of his grandfathers, Michael entered into military service. He joined the United States Marine Corp. in 2010, serving tours in Afghanistan and Bahrain, and then, as an instructor in motor transport. In 2010, Michael married Kortney and in 2012 they welcomed their baby girl Aubree into the world. He received an honorable discharge in 2017 with a rank of Sergeant. Michael entered civilian life working for Sinor Engine Co. and then LBC Tank Terminals as an operator before taking a position at Lubrizol in Deer Park.
Michael was affectionately known as "Woody" to his buddies and "Dadoo" to his little girl. He was a generous spirit with a huge heart, a goofy and silly side, yet still stubborn as hell.
His wonderful qualities are reflected in the comments given by so many of his friends and family: great guy ~ amazing man ~ filled with knowledge ~ always the life of the party ~ great human ~ truly an incredible person ~ amazing mentor and friend ~ sweet young man ~ one of the most realist guys I ever knew ~ polite, respectful and fun to be around ~ down to earth ~ biggest heart of gold ~ would give you the shirt off his back ~ always had a smile on his face ~ responsible ~ a marine who always had your back in any situation, one of the finest Marines I ever served with ~ outstanding and amazing father.
If you ask his dad, Michael got all of these good qualities from him. If you ask his sister's...he is still an idiot. However, everyone agrees he got his sweet side from his mom.
Michael is missed tremendously and this world will not be the same. We love you, Michael. We can't wait to see you again. Save us a seat in heaven with you. See you on the flip-side.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate in Michael's honor to Mission 22 or Camp Hope.
