

Dr. Nemesio Esquivel, 78, passed away on March 9, 2016 in Pasadena, Texas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, he was born in Baytown, Texas to the late Mariano and Marcelina Esquivel.
A Robert E. Lee High School alumnus, he graduated from the University of Texas Dental Branch in 1964. After graduating from dental school, he entered the U.S. Air Force as a Captain and was stationed in Albany, Georgia. He was honorably discharged from active service on July 2, 1966 and then spent another 11 years in the Air Force Reserves. Nemesio practiced dentistry for 49 years with private offices in Houston, Baytown, Brownsville and Pasadena. He retired in 2013 to spend more time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nemesio was an avid golfer and was one of the founders of the Los Asoleados Golf Association for Hispanic golfers based in Baytown, Texas. He loved to fish in the gulf waters of Texas and he also liked to travel and visited such places as Athens, Greece and Madrid, Spain. Burnt orange was his favorite color to wear because he was an enthusiastic and longtime fan of The University of Texas Longhorns.
He was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, Texas. He served many years on the Parish Council and various church committees.
Nemesio is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Amelia Barajas Esquivel; his four children, Annette Flores (Roland) of Deer Park, Eloisa Garcia (Ramiro) of South Houston, Gerald Esquivel (Teresa) of League City and Jeremy Esquivel of Deer Park; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his three sisters Tina Kaloustian (Ed) of Austin, Texas, Carol Wood (John) of Athens, Georgia and Jeanette Esquivel (Joe) of Greenville, South Carolina, and sister-in-law Irene Esquivel of Baytown, Texas, and an uncle Nick Campos (Tencha) of Baytown, Texas. Nemesio is predeceased by his brother, Jose Esquivel.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Texas. A mass will be held on March 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Hyacinth Church, 2921 Center Street, Deer Park, Texas 77536.
