

Ottaplammoottil Mathew Chacko (Ponnachan), son of late O.C Mathew and Saramma Mathew was born on September 2, 1941 in Kallissery, Kerala India. He was the eldest of four children. He came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, baptized with water and filled with Holy Spirit in November 1959 while he was the member of Indian Pentecostal Church of God in Kallissery. In 1961, he moved from Kallissery to Bihar, India. On August 20, 1967, he married Thankamma Mathew, daughter of late N.M. Mathew and Sosamma Mathew. God blessed them with four children. In August 1976, he and his wife immigrated to the United States, followed by his four children in 1977. They came to Chicago and fellowshipped with Pastor Abraham Thomas. In August 14, 1978, they relocated from Chicago to Pasadena, Texas. They joined the Indian Church of God, for over ten years with Pastor Joseph C. Joseph, where he served as Church Secretary. In 1994, they became members at Indian Pentecostal Church of God Houston (IPC Hebron). In his life, he had a deep love for the Lord and his home country, India. He assisted in many ways to start several churches there and also in Bihar. He was actively involved in the ministry and the extension of the kingdom of God throughout his life. He will always be remembered for his fellowship in the church and his love and friendliness among his friends and relatives. He was always considered a hard worker and a great employee. On October 27, 1984, he joined the United States Postal Service. He faithfully worked as a Postal employee for twenty-five years. He worked at many locations and he received many commendations and awards. He was a great asset to the Postal Service and assisted other post offices in the Houston area. After twenty-five years of service, on October 2009, he retired from the United States Postal Service. On December 17, 2012, at the age of seventy-one, he was peacefully called to be with the Lord, with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife, Thankamma; son, Santhosh, and three daughters: Saramma, Soosan and Shiny; Son in Law, Tim Bailey; Grandchildren: Joshua, Hannah and Hope; Brother, Sunny and two sisters: Gracy and Valsa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
