Paul,
it has been a while since you left the world. I have had a lot of time to reflect back on our many good times and your extremely positive influence on my life. Not a day goes by that I am not driving down the Seawall thinking about our twice a month lunches at La Estacion and our studying of all the history on Galveston Island. Your always quick wit and positive thoughts. Your many stories of time in Galveston hearing blues music in your youth. Your encouraging me in my Real Estate career. My manager at work has put your picture on the bulletin board because you were very liked at my office, so when I am printing out contracts I see you there and smile. I know you are in a better place and I will see you again. Thank You for all you were to so many. I love you! Jace

I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to Donna and her family.  I know how difficult the days going forward will be. The two important things to remember is that you are never without your Dad - he is always still with you in your heart, soul and in your memories; and the other is that there will be a time when you will once again be reunited.  In the mean time remember you have support from friends and family and never be afraid to ask for a shoulder to lean on.  My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Thank you Donna and Darla for sharing your dad with me all these years.  You both along with your families meant everything to him.  That is one of the things I loved about him - his devotion to his children.  I will miss him so very much - he was a very big part of my life and I am so grateful for that.  Bless you all.

Dad, 

 I don't know how to begin to find the words to describe what a wonderful man and father you were and how much I miss you.  Life just won't be the same without your smile, your hugs; your gifts wrapped in funnies and sometimes even glass tape.  I'll miss your guidance, your weekly Sunday afternoon visits (sometimes bringing homemade pickles, homegrown veggies and other trinkets), and just being able to pick up the phone and talk to you.  You were such a good man to all, a wonderful father and friend to Donna and I, and a very special grandfather and great-grandfather.   I could attempt to list all the great qualities and things that I admired about you but the list could never be complete.  Hearing and reading all the kind words from so many tells me how highly you were thought of and how dearly you will be missed.   My heart aches but I know you are watching over me and you will be with me always.    I love you, miss you, and will see you again.

So sorry for your loss Donna and Darla!  Your families are in my thoughts and prayers!  I still remember the many days in your parents home growing up. Tanya "May"

You are the greatest grandpa ever. Your focus was always on making everyone happy. I will never forget even the little things you did, like wrapping Christmas & birthday gifts in the comic section of the newspaper to make people laugh and smile even before they opened their gifts from you. I will always remember all the times you took me to lunch, from when I was 6 years old and in daycare, to now when I'm 15 years old and in high school. I will always remember how strong you are as a person, and how loving and caring you've always been. I still, to this day have the little blanket you gave me as a baby. I will always cherish the time I had with you, always smiling, and laughing at your jokes. Works cannot describe how much you will be missed and how much you are loved.

Even though I had not met Donna's dad but once, I feel that I had grown to know him through my close friendship with Donna. She would tell me about her dad, how he was always be there for her, to listen or share his advise if asked. He would share his wisdom, his values, and his integrity. I see his wonderful qualities past to you Donna. I know how your heart is aching, but may you be comforted in knowing your Dad is home now with the Lord. He will always be forever in your heart!!

Paul, you were a special man to us and our family.  I will remember you for many things, but mostly for admiration and respect, and the love you've shown your daughters and grandchildren.  I will miss your kind heart, witty humor, and the way my girls faces lit up when they saw you, or spoke of you.  I thank you for everything you've said to me, and done for me.
As a father-in-law, a friend, a grandfather, and a father, you have inspired me, and set the bar in many ways for me.
So as you now rest . . . I will be there for Donna, Elyssa, & Tara.  And I will remember you when the bar is placed in front of me, and my heart will strive to reach it for those three you've left for me to look after .....

I was only fortunate enough to have met your father on several occasions, but it was evident the love he had for you. Oh and we had more than a few occasions we involved him in our pranks together Donna, and what a great sport he was. May his love for you and great memories give you peace. 
My deepest sympathy to Donna and family,

I had the honor of knowing Mr. Carroll all through school being very close friends with Donna, who I am very proud to say is still a very close friend...always.  I can always recall him as being funny and quirky and smirking at our teenage angst.  He was always making you laugh.  I know he loved Donna and Darla unconditionally and was an amazing father to them.  I was so sorry to hear of his passing and he will be truly missed by everyone that knew and loved him.  Now Donna and Darla have a guardian angel watching over them.  My thoughts and prayers to all of the family and friends.  Traci Casto-Galyean

Even though, I did not know Paul very well, I would like to share how he touched many lives in the North Pasadena área. One evening he accompanied Kay Watson to the center.  When he left, he saw how very dark it was.   A few days later, he showed up with Kay and installed a solar light that works beautifully.  Whenever we are at North Pasadena Community Outreach Center in the evening, we know that Paul's handiwork will light up the parking lot. We feel so much safer.  He was a caring, thoughtful man. He saw a need, and he just took care of it.  He didn't say you need more light out here; he actually cared enough to do something about it. We were blessed to have known him for even a short time.  I pray for God's comforting embrace around each and every one of you.

I only knew Paul for a short time later in his life. But the time I did spend with him made some lasting impressions. I wish there could have been more time. He was a kind spirit who could deliver a meaningful message, stern or not, in a few words. Loved to make you laugh. He loved talking about mechanical things and we liked that we shared a common career in instrumentation/electrical.
Recently, I spent an afternoon with Paul. It was there that I asked for his permission to marry his daughter Donna. Thank you for that day Paul.

I am so lucky to have got to know Paul, Donna's father.  He was a wonderful and honorable man. He will be greatly missed but for sure he will live on in his childern.  My prayers go out to Donna and all the family in this time of great sorrow.  May remembering what a great father he was and the wonderful times that were shared comfort his children.  Rest in Peace Paul and know I will be there for you loving daughter my friend Donna.

I've only met Paul a few times because we live so far apart, but have shared emails over the years. The most important thing I remember about him Is that he was a loyal companion to my sister Kay for many years. My thoughts and prayers go out to her and Paul's family, as I know that he will be dearly missed by all.  May God Bless You All !!

You were the most honorable and loving man I have ever known and I have always been so proud and honored to have you as my father.  You always  made your family and those you loved priority above all.  You have guided me and been there for me at every turn in my life.  You have been my rock and my strength.  Your honorable character and moral compass were undeniable by all.  You are so loved and deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing you.  I am lost without you.

Our Prayers are with Paul and his loving family.  Paul was a kind and honest man who I worked with for 15 years.  Our son's and his daughters Donna and Darla all attended PHS together.   Paul will be missed but in my heart I know I will see him again.
