

Pedro (Pete) Martinez, Jr. of League City, Texas ascended to the Kingdom of Heaven on January 28, 2026. He was born on December 25, 1949, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Parents: Josephine Martinez Pruneda and Pedro Salazar Martinez.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Sylvia Bugtong of Houston, Texas; Diana Lopez of Pasadena, Texas; Josephine (Josie) Sabbagh of Carmel, Israel; Joe Raymond Pruneda of Pasadena, Texas; Sandra Lopez of Corpus Christi, Texas; Linda Milazzo of Corpus Christi, Texas.
He is survived by step-father Ramon L. Pruneda of Pasadena, Texas; brother Johnny Martinez of Santa Barbara, California, sisters: Cynthia Alvarez of Deer Park, Texas; Ruby Guinn of League City, Texas; and numerous nieces & nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.
Pete attended Wynn Seale Junior High School where he played the trombone in the award-winning marching band. The City of Corpus Christi purchased Wynn Seale Junior High in 1934. The State of Texas has now recorded that school building a Texas Historic Landmark as of 1986. Pete earned his GED from Del Mar College, Corpus Christi.
Soon after that Pete enlisted in the United States Army and completed his basic training at Fort Eustis, Virginia in 1967. He trained as an Aircraft Engine Repairman. In 1968 he continued his training for Engine Maintenance in Indianapolis, Indiana before returning to Corpus Christi for 31 weeks training in 1968. Pete completed his Navy Department Drivers Training Pilot Installation Certificate on September 3, 1968. The army deployed Pete to serve onboard the USNS Corpus Christi Bay helicopter repair ship that served in the Vietnam War. It was a floating aircraft maintenance facility that provided repair and maintenance services to Army aircraft. In 1969 Pete had earned an Aircraft Turbine Engine Repairman designation as well as Light Weapons Infantryman. The United States Army awarded Pete a National Defense Service Medal & Vietnam Service Medal & Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal & 1 Overseas Service Bar between January & September 1969. On November 20, 1972, Pete receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States of America. One year later Pete re-enlisted in the Army and the Army stationed him at Fort Hood army base located near Killeen, Texas. He then received a second honorable discharge on January 10, 1975.
Pete lived in the Corpus Christi, Texas area for years, he relocated to the Houston, Texas area where he lived close to his beloved mother, Josephine whom he had a close and loving relationship. He was loved dearly by his family and a treasured family member who will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505, on February 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Mass will take place at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook St, Houston, Texas, 77034, on February 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
