Philip R. Abowd

Phil was born in Houston, TX on September 13, 1952 to Philip Abowd and Virginia Whitta Abowd. He was married to Erminia Rendon Abowd on October 16, 1976 and they had three wonderful children.

Phil attended Mt. Carmel High School and graduated in 1971. There he made many friends with whom he remained close. Shortly after graduation he began his career at Shell Chemical. He retired as an Operations Supervisor after 35 years.

He was a long-time active member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and through them volunteered his time to serve the community. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, running and cycling, but his true passion in life was family. His favorite family pastimes included road trips, camping and backyard bar-b-ques.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Virginia Abowd and brother Chris Abowd. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Erminia Abowd, son PJ Abowd and wife Allison, son Alex Abowd, daughter Kadi Abowd, and grandson Henry Abowd. He is also survived by his siblings Alice Rodgers and husband Terry, Mark Abowd and wife Marcia, Meg Montalvo and husband Romeo, Joe Abowd and wife Dayna, and Matt Abowd and wife Michelle.

Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2013 from 5PM to 8PM at Grand View Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 6PM in the Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10AM at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church 2921 Center St. Deer Park, Texas 77536. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
