Roxanne Wright Selcer, 74, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017. She was born in Springfield, MO on August 6, 1943 to Stanley and Zenia Wright. Roxanne graduated from Calallen High School in 1961 and not long after married her lifelong best friend, Donald Ray Selcer, to whom she was happily married to for over 46 years. Roxanne and Donald lived in the Pasadena area for over 40 years and were members of Fairmont Central Baptist Church.
Roxanne built her life around serving others and lifting people up. She worked for Home Interiors and Gifts for over 30 years where she touched countless lives. All of those that knew Roxanne would tell you the same thing: she tirelessly served others by putting their needs before her own and ultimately went above and beyond to ensure that everyone felt cherished and loved. Her work at Home Interiors was very important to her as she worked hard to continually exceed expectations. Not only was Roxanne dedicated to her work, she never withheld this gift from others as she used her passion and talent of decorating to teach and mentor for over three decades. She was especially known for working all night, every night, to ensure the next event was a success. As long as she had a cold Dr. Pepper (often delivered by Donald) anything was possible!
Being a natural born leader, people were drawn to her up until the day she died, but Roxanne’s most precious gift was her heart for giving: financially, emotionally and spiritually. She truly had a special way of meeting needs and blessing others without ever being asked or expecting anything in return. Roxanne was a humble leader and achieved so much professionally, yet I’m sure she would say that the thing she was most proud of was her family. She absolutely loved being a grandmother and this showed through the way she always made time to create special memories with each of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Bielamowicz, Jenifer Somich and husband Robert, Brandee Rogers and husband Jay; son-in-law, Danny Bielamowicz; grandchildren, Ryan Shimek and wife Rachael, Brittany Bielamowicz, Katie Yancy and husband Austin, Victoria Rogers, Taylor Bielamowicz, Hunter Bielamowicz, and Makenzie Rogers; five great grandchildren; brother, Larry Wright; sister, Sharon Greenwood and husband Dennis, sister, Michelle Wright.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Pasadena, 7500 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. Interment to follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
Although many tears have been shed over losing Roxanne, we are comforted in knowing that she has finally made it home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
