

Roy had a long and distinguished career in heavy equipment operations, dedicating 65 years to the field before retiring from Celanese. He was a devoted and generous individual, known for his hard-working nature. Roy was honored as an honorary life member of the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo, being one of only four people to receive that prestigious designation. He was also a founding member of Lifebridge Baptist Church.
Roy's passions included decorating for Christmas, where he devoted three months each year to transforming his home into a festive wonderland. Over 25 years, 390,423 people signed the book and experienced the Christmas spirit through Bufkin Wonderland. He also spent 25 years at the Strawberry Festival, selling chocolate-covered strawberries. Roy enjoyed 4-wheeling, traveling, and helping others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hughie Bufkin; mother, Inez Bufkin; brothers, James Bufkin and Joe Pat Bufkin; and sister, Jessie May Rustin.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Bufkin; daughters, Angie and her spouse Luke Rogers, and Terri and her spouse Keith Miley; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505, on May 21, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue on May 22, 2025, starting at 10:00 am. The committal service will take place at Grand View Memorial Park on the same day.
