

Santiago Edward De La O Sr., born on June 18, 1953, passed away on September 20, 2025, at the age of 72. Santiago was born and grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, where he lived with his family. He graduated from Jerome I. Case High School and later proudly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served as active-duty military and in the Air National Guard in the states of Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, and back to Texas.
Upon moving to the Houston area, Santiago began attending San Jacinto College, initially studying Aeronautics before completing his studies in Drafting and Engineering Design. His early employment in Houston started as an Instrument fitter, and he concluded his career as an Instrument Piping Designer. Santiago loved his family and was loved by them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia (Mollie) De La O and Santiago Felipe De La O, his brother Ernesto De La O, and his sister Gloria Rodriguez.
He is survived by his brother Fred De La O (Leticia), brother-in-law Vincent Rodriguez, and sisters, Margie De La O, and Theresa De La O. Santiago is also survived by his beloved wife, Irma Cantu De La O, and his sons Santiago Edward De La O Jr. (Joann Montez), Dominick Edward De La O (Reyna), Angel Vincent De La O, Daniel Isaiah De La O (Tara Lynne), and Alexander Jay De La O. His legacy continues with his grandson John Montez (Sara), granddaughters Janet De La O (Josh), Jamie De La O, Adriana (Lynne), and Larissa Gunn, as well as his great-grandson Jiro Montez and great-granddaughter Isabella Montez.
A Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, on October 10, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow on October 11, 2025, at 2:00 pm, also at Grand View Funeral Home. The Committal Service will take place at Grand View Memorial Park on the same day.
