Stanley Everett Coan was born in 1936 in Timpson, TX. After moving to Pasadena, he attended Pasadena High School and Graduated in 1954. Barbara and Stan met while attending school at Pasadena High School and were married for 59 years.
After attending University of Houston, Stanley joined the Army in late 1950’s - became a specialist in the Corp of engineers - and served for 6-months which led to his career at Houston Natural Gas Company and Entex Gas. Stanley was a surveyor for several years.
A position became available in the safety department. Stan was awarded the job as a corporate safety supervisor. More than 40 years later Stan retired from CenterPoint in 1999 from what was called the ‘white house’ in the engineering department on Navigation Blvd. in Houston, TX.
Stanley loved the outdoors and nature. He had a beautiful vegetable garden for many, many years. Each year it would get bigger and better until unfortunately, the Alzheimer’s took away his desire.
Stanley took pride in keeping all of the family cars in tip-top shape. Always spotless; inside and out. It gave him such a sense of accomplishment.
We had Boston terriers growing up. Stan loved each one more than the last if that was at all possible. He adored all species of animals, but in particular his Boston’s and it’s said that you can tell a lot about a person’s character by the way they treat animals.
Stanley was big brother to Elroy Bert Coan, Sr., and uncle to Elroy Bert Coan, Jr. and his wife Rita and their daughter Lee Ann and husband Derek Lusk, Kaylee Coan Burkhardt, husband Joe Burkhardt and their daughter Kelsi and new baby great-grandson Kolt Elroy Ganze.
Last but certainly not least – Stanley loved being a PaPa to his grandkids and great-grandkids: Paul Tollefsen and wife Samantha and great-grandson Jaxson, Travis Tollefsen & great-grandson twins Luke & Jason, Taylor Coan, Joey Stracener, Caden Coan, Sam Coan, Josh Stoney and Seth Stoney. What might have been his greatest achievement was being father to Dana Coan Rogers and Stanley Everett Coan, Jr. who is married to Janet Coan.
Stanley Everett Coan will be always in our hearts and memories.
