Thelma J. Shaffer

Thelma J. Shaffer, born November 6, 1937 in Comanche County, TX to Guy and Cleo Lowery, went to be with the Lord June 1, 2015. She is survived by the love of her life, Harold Loyd Shaffer, who she was married to for 60 years. She is survived by son Harold Glen Shaffer and wife Donene of Baytown, TX, son Terry Lynn Shaffer and wife Christina of Pearland, TX.

She is survived by 5 grandchildren: Terry Shaffer Jr and wife Rachael, Kimberly Kay Jordan, Justin Michael Shaffer, Rebecca Lynn Shaffer, and Daniel Carl Shaffer. They were her pride and joy.

She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Christian Shaffer, Ethan Jordan, Alexandra Jordan, Zachary Shaffer, Xander Shaffer, and Jessica Shaffer.

Thelma served as Den Mother at Park Place Elementary and Treasurer at Franklin Elementary. She was a member of ILA Local 1273 Ladies Auxiliary for 25 years eventually serving as President. She was an active member of the Harris County Democratic Party for the past 40 years. Thelma was an active member of the Pasadena Women’s Bowling Association for the past 53 years, being inducted into the Pasadena Bowling Hall of Fame as well as being a member emeritus of the PWBA 500-600 club. Bowling was her passion as can be seen by her many honors.

She was preceded in death by her parents Guy T. Lowery and Cleo Permenter, sister Judy Thornton, brother Jerry Lynn Lowery, and brother-in-law, George Shaffer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Grand View Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank all the medical staff who cared for Mrs. Shaffer this last month.
