Theodore R Barker

Theodore "Ted" Robert Barker, beloved husband, stepfather, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at age 73 on July 8, 2024. He was born on December 1, 1950, to Lesly Leroy and Theora Mae Barker. He was married to Gwendolyn Sue Barker for 33 years. Ted worked for Occidental Petroleum for almost 32 years without missing a day of work. He also worked as a security guard and at the Maxwell Center in Deer Park. During this time, he also made deliveries for Meals on Wheels. In 2022 he became an honorary member of the Pineland Volunteer Fire Department. Ted had a passion for music, leather working, wood working, ceramics, and making walking canes. One of his early hobbies was his time as a certified beekeeper, where he managed the bees and gave the honey away to others. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing instant pot recipes with his friends. On Fridays, he enjoyed meeting friends Diane Manning, Sandy Imes, Mike and Linda Smith and Scott Manning for breakfast along with others who would join them on special occasions.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sue Barker, parents Lesly "Pop" and Theora Barker, nephew James Bentley, stepson Michael Jestice, and uncle Theodore Guth Sr.

He is survived by sister Bonnie Anderson, stepdaughter Debbie Swartzwelder, cousin Ted Guth Jr. and wife Kelly, nephew Ryan and wife Fidela Bentley, nephew Paul Bentley, great nephews Tyler and Jordan Bentley, great niece Marissa Bentley, granddaughter Brittany Jestice, grandson Charles Jestice, and great granddaughters Jocelyn Gould and Kayla Benton.

A visitation for Theodore will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 22, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A graveside service will occur Monday, July 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505.
