

Wilma Ann Ormes Smith was born June 10, 1937 to Crosby and Rera Ormes in Harrison County Texas. Wilma was the youngest in a family of 5 girls and two boys. She attended school in Harleton,Texas until her teenage years. While still a teen, she moved to Houston,Texas where she met and married the love of her life Thomas Smith.
Wilma and Thomas were married in 1952 and started to raise a family. Wilma and Thomas purchased a lot at 2520 Morning Glory in Pasadena and built a new house for $9,000. A son Russell was born in 1954 and another son Winston was adopted in 1959. A daughter Michelle was adopted in 1971. Thomas worked in the chemical and soil testing industries while Wilma was an active housewife, bookkeeper and volunteer worker. In her later years, Wilma worked as a security guard and performed volunteer work for the Food Bank in Deer Park. When Thomas passed away in 1986, Wilma sold the house on Morning Glory and moved to Deer Park.
Wilma was an active member of St. Pious Catholic Church in Pasadena and a charter member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park when it was formed in the late 1960s. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club in Deer Park and enjoyed many friends she met through volunteer work and social clubs.
Wilma loved her children and grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings at her home during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her grandchildren spent many hours in her home and enjoyed her wisdom and guidance about life and love. Wilma lived life on her own terms and she left this world the same way. May God bless her soul and grant her eternal peace.
