Alonso Rivas, a man admired for his unwavering dedication and rich traditional values, passed away on January 14, 2024. Born on December 11, 1935, Alonso's life was a tapestry of hard work, loving commitment, and the simplest, yet deepest pleasures.
Happily married for 65 years to his high school sweetheart, Maria, Alonso's definition of love was woven into everyday moments. Their shared morning breakfasts became a sacred ritual, and their travels to the ranch evoked the tranquility and bond only nature and time can cultivate. Alonso was a man grounded in the essence of family tradition. Alongside his brothers, he not only continued but expanded the family-owned store, "M Rivas." For over 60 years, his hands and heart committed to the store, curating not just goods, but a community cornerstone that resonated with friendly chatter and familiar smiles. His free time painted the picture of an adventurous spirit—fishing lines, hunting excursions, and camping under the stars that watched over his family's laughter and tales. Alonso's world was never complete without the gentle nudge of his animals or the hearty embrace of loved ones. A traditionalist at his core, Alonso Rivas charted a life's course that valued the strength in roots, the honor in hard work, and the treasure found in tight-knit family bonds. His legacy, immeasurable in its warmth and integrity, will forever light the path for those he's left behind.
Survived by his beloved wife, Maria Rivas; four children, Leticia (Mike) McEmeel, Alonso (Andrea) Rivas Jr., Sonia Rivas Rodriquez , Magin (Lourdes) Rivas; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; many more family and friends.
Alonso is preceded in death by his parents, Magin and Consuelo Rivas; and his daughter, Frances Rivas Smith.
