

Arturo was born on Friday, December 19, 1947, in Alamo, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas. Arturo was a proud Army veteran who served his country for 15 years. He was deeply proud of his family and often spoke with pride about his son who serves in the Marine Corps.
Above all, Arturo was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His world revolved around his family. He shared 57 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Manuela Martinez. His two sons were his greatest motivation in life, and he raised them to be proud citizens and devoted family men.
In his younger years, Arturo enjoyed fishing with family and friends. He loved simple joys—spending time at home with his loved ones, sharing stories, and enjoying his favorite meal of menudo with a cold beer. Being surrounded by his family brought him the greatest happiness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juana Muñiz and Juan Ramon Martinez; his brother, Rubern Martinez and a sister, Sylvia Flores.
He is survived by his loving wife, Manuela Martinez; his sons, Arturo Martinez Jr. (Sylvia) and Alfredo Martinez (Billie); and the lights of his life, his grandchildren: Nicholas Arturo, Vicent Alexander, Gabriel Isaiah, Victor Issac, Vivianna Madison, and Joseph Anthony Martinez. He is also survived by his great-grandchild, Opal Lynn; his siblings, Raul (Luisa) Martinez, Arnoldo (Martha) Martinez, Esperanza Muñiz, Blanca (Samuel) Galvan; a sister-in-law, Julie Martinez; a borther-in-law, Jose Flores; numerous extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. rosary, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
Visitation will resume on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Catholic service at 11:30 a.m. at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr. Burial will follow at the Rio Grande Valley Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
