

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ascencion Almanza, who departed this world on January 25, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on May 12, 1936, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication. Asención was an active and beloved member of the Las Palmas Community Center, as well as a devoted member of his church, where he dedicated much of his life to serving God and his community.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alma R Almanza, his son, Joe C. Almanza and his granddaughter Tasha R. Antunez.
He is survived by his children: Asención Almanza, Bertha Villarreal, Mary Ann Molina, Alma Treviño, Héctor Almanza, Carlos M. Almanza, and David Almanza, as well as 37 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who will honor his memory with love and gratitude. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Asención Almanza, Héctor Almanza, David Almanza, Joseph Almanza, Isaac Almanza, Saúl Almanza, Simón Almanza, Carlos “Chuck” Almanza, and Paul Treviño, Jr.
Asención was known for his love of boxing, a passion he shared with those around him. He was a friendly and kind-hearted soul who spoke to everyone and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of support and kindness during this time of mourning. Asención will always be remembered for his unwavering faith and the love he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Wednesday's scheduled: 3:00-500 viewing family/private
5:00-10:00 viewing for all.
Thursday-viewing-8:00 am to 1:30
Mass-2:00 PM at Lady of the Rosary, 923 Matamoros St, Mission, TX. (Old church).
Burial at 3:00 PM at Palm Valley Cemetery located next to the funeral home.
