

Guadalupe Barrios Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a longtime resident of San Juan, Texas, and a man deeply rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
Guadalupe lived a full and meaningful life. He played the bajo instrument in a band for most of his life and had a true love for music and singing. A skilled and hardworking man, he built many of the homes his children grew up in with his own hands and worked as a farmer for many years in the Sebastian and Lyford areas. He also found joy in working in his yard and spending time outdoors.
Above all, Guadalupe cherished his family. He taught his children the importance of being respectful, honest, and hardworking, and he was a devoted husband who loved his wife, the mother of his children, deeply and faithfully. Some of his simple pleasures included enjoying donuts, pan dulce, extra-sweet coffee, carnitas, apple pie, and vanilla ice cream or shakes.
He was preceded in death by his children, Cruzita Barrios and Juan Barrios.
Mr. Guadalupe is survived by his beloved wife of 64 yrs of marriage, Maria Elda Barrios; his children: Elena Orozco, Fernando Barrios, Alfredo Barrios, Jose G. Barrios, Rosa Maldonado, and Susana Rodriguez; his grandchildren: Fernando, Clifton, Amanda, Daniel, Alaina, Landon, Trent, Tommy, Trevor, Alivia, Leah, Angelina, Andrew, Victoria, Alexis, Derek, Jacklyn, Kenya, Ramiro, Roberto, and Ricardo; and his great-grandchildren: Riley, Samuel, Saige, Lillian, Landon III, Kinzley, Logan, Silas, Jameson, Sofia, and Johnny.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, located at 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577. A religious ceremony will take place the same evening at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr, Texas.
Guadalupe Barrios Jr. will be remembered for his strong work ethic, musical spirit, deep love for his family, and the lasting values he passed down to generations who will continue to honor his legacy.
