Jesus Salvador Gordo, age 88, of McAllen, Texas entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his beloved family. Salvador was born February 19, 1933 in Mexico to the late Maria Del Carmen Medina Gordo and Rufino Gordo.
Salvador was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. To those that knew him best he was an exceptional person. Salvador was a hardworking family man who was completely dedicated to his family and loved the rugged farm life. He had a variety of livestock at one time or another, as well as, his cherished dogs. He had many talents and interests. He was a retired roofer and a longtime photographer. Salvador was extremely resourceful and ingenious with his own ideas and solutions, even building his own concrete home. He enjoyed good food and loved peppers, the hotter the better. He was a man of faith and loved hearing God’s word, inviting all faiths into his home. He was extraordinary with numbers and could finish a math problem in his mind quicker than one with a pen and paper. He loved his dear wife, Maria Ascencion and together they were a great couple. Before her passing in 1999, they had celebrated 39 amazing years together. Simply stated, Salvador was a kind and generous man who was humble and loving. Salvador touched the hearts of many people and leaves amazing memories behind. He will forever be remembered and never forgotten.
Salvador is survived by his daughter Maria Del Carmen Gordo-Helbing (Robert F. Helbing); his sons Armando Gordo; and Gerardo Gordo (Lazara Johann Gordo); his grandchildren Christy M. Helbing, Armando Jeremiah Gordo, Natalia Gordo and Nicole Grace Gordo along with numerous extended family and friends.
Salvador was preceded in death by his wife Maria Ascencion Gordo; his father Rufino Gordo and his mother Maria Del Carmen Medina Gordo.
A visitation for Salvador will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr. His chapel service occurring on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM with his interment scheduled to follow at 3:00 PM at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
