Jose Luis Jimenez, 81 passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born on March 15, 1942, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Most of his childhood was spent in Monterrey until he called Pharr, Texas his home. Jose Luis was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Del Carmen Jimenez, his mother, Soledad C. Jimenez, and his brother, Antonio H. Jimenez. When he was a young man, he had the opportunity to work in different states like California, Colorado, and Nevada. When he was asked what his favorite city in which he worked at, he would answer San Franciso. Ironically, he was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a hardworking man that was dedicated to his family. He had admirable work ethics and abided by his civic duties. Up until the point he could not, he voted in every election. He was a true supporter of education. He always made the education of his daughters a priority. He enjoyed fishing with friends. He enjoyed reading western novels. He also enjoyed good westerns or action movies. John Wayne, Bruce Lee, and Chuck Norris movies were his favorite. After the loss of his wife, Carmen, he consoled himself by spending time with his grandchildren. His love for his grandchildren was immense. He loved spending time with them, hearing them laughing and playing with them. He loved taking them outside to enjoy nature and his plants. He loved treating them to a bountiful of cookies, empanadas, and their favorite chicken nuggets. Even though he was not much of a cook, he would please his grandkids by making them hard-boiled eggs. He loved hearing from them what they had to tell him about their adventures in school, sports, activities, and friendships. In turn, his grandkids enjoyed listening to grandpa’s stories from his childhood. God granted his heart’s desire to see most of his grandchildren graduate from high school and see his first grandson, Javier, graduate from college. He was a pillar of strength and support, offering guidance, love, and encouragement to his daughters and grandchildren. His wisdom, compassion, and unwavering love will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. His daughters are grateful to God for having Jose Luis as a father and for his long life. Even though he succumbed to dementia, it was a blessing to have him remember and recognize his family till the very end. He is survived by his daughters Marlene Vanegas (Vicente), Mari Jimenez (Gerardo), Veronica Rodriguez and Monica Martinez. His 7 grandchildren, Javier, Nicholas, Justin, Emiliano, Madeline, Viviana, and Orlando.
