Maria de la Luz Abad, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria lived a life full of grace, warmth, and unwavering faith.
Maria was born to Jose Ortiz and Maria Luisa Zaragoza, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her beloved husband, Felipe Abad. Together, Maria and Felipe built a life rooted in love, raising a large and beautiful family.
She is survived by her eleven loving children: Jose Manuel Abad, Jose Raul Abad, Gloria Abad, Felipe Abad Jr., Martha Angelica Abad, Antonio Abad, Aracely Abad Flores, Catalina Abad Cortes, Alejandro Abad, Annabel Abad, and Angelica Aguirre. Her legacy continues through her 30 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Maria found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved painting, tending to her garden, reading her Bible, and most of all, spending cherished moments with her family. She was a devoted church member at Primera Iglesia Bautista of Pharr, TX and also enjoyed being pampered, going shopping, and dining out—always with a smile and a gracious spirit.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location, followed by a burial at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM.
Maria de la Luz Abad leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, strength, and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
