Born in Mission, he was a lifetime resident of Pharr. Pilar was a proud graduate from PSJA Bears Class of 1963 and remained an avid supporter of all PSJA sports his whole life. He took pride in attending every football game and he was a season ticket holder for 63 years. As a teenager Pilar reached the highest rank attainable in scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout. Pilar spent his entire career as a butcher, making many friends along the way. He was our go-to for quality meats and was quick to correct you if you started to cut your meat wrong. Pilar enjoyed playing loteria, bingo, going to casinos, in particular "Kickapoo" in Eagle Pass. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed road trips and long drives with his loving family. We will miss his quick sarcasm and wit and his ability to tell it like it is will truly be missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years of marriage, Helen Anzaldua-Navarro; his five children, Pieta Michelle (Lauro) Guerrero, Javier Navarro, Patricia (Raymond) Laurel, Veronica Navarro, Josie Anzaldua; six grandchildren, Jordan Fox, Chenoa Elizabeth, Lisa Renee, Diego Alejandro, Luke Nathaniel, and Natasha; several brothers and sisters; and numerous extended family.
A visitation for Pilar will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A rosary will occur Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 6:00 pm followed by a Catholic Service at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmvalleyfh.com for the Navarro family.
