Rigoberto Flores

Rigoberto Flores, a longtime resident of Pharr, Texas, born September 1, 1936, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He is preceded in death by his dearest wife, Imelda Flores, cherished son, Raul Flores, brother, Moises Flores and sister Hermelinda Salas. Rigo was a guiding light, a protective mentor and a generous spirit, not to mention a man of literally many hats, and he wore each equally as handsomely.

Rigo was a man of such thoughtful gestures and equally thoughtful words. A kind and strong constant in so many lives, it is difficult to even begin to describe the incredible impact his short stature made.

A perpetual tinkerer, he engineered gadgets and accessories to make his life easier and often gave aid to his risky endeavors, like trimming 12 foot palm trees, or moving macetas twice his weight.

He took immense pride in his immaculate garden and beautiful “casita.” Rigo’s hardworking nature was always on display, despite concerns from loved ones. He could always be found repairing, planting, renovating, or giving people things to insure they were always repairing, planting or renovating.

As years went by, his bold spirit was never suppressed, and it is that spirit that will live on in his family and friends.

A devout husband and father, Rigo’s legacy will be that of love, loyalty and generosity.

He is survived by his beloved brothers and sisters, Benjamin Flores (Constancia), Rosa Bocanegra (Roberto) , Eusebio Flores (Elva) , Juanita Torres (Juan) and Jose Luis Flores (Dalia). Rigo had a deep love for his family and friendships. He found his greatest joy in being surrounded by family, neighbors and friends.

A visitation for Rigoberto will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577. A funeral mass will occur Monday, April 28, 2025 at 12:00 pm at St. Anne Catholic Church, 801 E Juarez Ave #4143, 4143, Pharr, TX 78577. A burial will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens, 4607 N Sugar Rd, Pharr, TX 78577.
