He was the son of the late John Ellis Johnson and Edith Ethel Huff-Johnson. Widow of Grace Voce, 8 years. He Leaves behind wife of 52 years, Charlotte C. Johnson, daughter Grace (Tony) Jernigan, sons John (Beth), Jeffrey (Brenda), and Walter (Trudy) Johnson, grandsons Daniel, Adam, and Alex Johnson, Chad Jernigan, grand daughter Samantha Lawson, great granddaughters Taylor, Tillery, Trinity, Madelyn, Meredith, and Lorelei Johnson, great grandsons Hayden and Liam Johnson, step grandson Ladon McAllister, step-grand daughters Miste Sanchez and Monica Milner, step-great grand daugthers Ashley Milner, Holi Milner, Isabella Sanchez, Riley Milner, Owen Milner and Ethan Milner.
Living siblings include a step-brother Paul Johnson and two sisters Virginia Shaw and Mary Fielder. Deceased siblings include Joseph Jack Johnson, Robert Tubby Johnson, Fred Johnson, Levi Johnson,, Maxine Johnson, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
He was a 50 Year Mason in Wilson Williams 351 Masonic Lodge, a member of Alcazar Shriners and Shriners International, He was a member of the Alcazar Road Runners Unit providing transportation to Shriners Hospitals for Children, He was President of the Phenix City Shrine Club in 2012, he was awarded the title of Ambassador At Large in Alcazar Shriners.
He was a member of St. James Freewill Baptist Church
He was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of honorable service, He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
After his military service he embarked upon a career as an over the road truck driver which he maintained until the age of 82. He accumulated over 4 million accident free miles during his career.
He enjoyed professional wrestling, fishing, working bingo at the Phenix City Shrine Club, playing cards, gardening, and had a passion for watching and feeding birds, one of his greatest joys in life was to make others laugh.
Members of Phenix City Shrine Club will serve as pall bearers.

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, February 28th in the Chapel at Striffler Hamby Funeral Home officiated by Pastor David Dollar
