

Mrs. Annie L. Garner Simmons, 89, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away Sunday February 17, 2013 in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm (EST) Tuesday February 19th in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with Dr. David Kees officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30pm until 2:00pm prior to the service.
Mrs. Simmons was born May 1, 1923 in Geneva County, Alabama, daughter of the late Tillis MCLaney and Tinnie Holloway McLaney. She was retired from the Fieldcrest Mills and was a member of the Smiths Station Baptist Church. Other than her parents Mrs. Simmons is preceded in death by husbands, William D. Garner and David Simmons, son, Billy “Mac” Garner, brother, Lester C. McLaney and daughter-in-law, Sandra Green Garner.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Lester E. and Nancy Garner, Linda G. and Charlie Davenport, Larry G. Garner, Jerry D. and Jan Garner, daughter-in-law,Gloria Garner, siblings and their spouses, Henry Clay and Mildred McLaney, Mary E. Benton, Pauline Houle, Billy Rex and Sarah Anne McLaney, sister-in-law,Mae McLaney, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
