Burford Nelson Newman, Jr, 69 of Smiths Station, AL passed away Friday August 16, 2013 in Montgomery, AL. Graveside funeral services will be held 1:00pm ET Tuesday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 US Hwy 280 W., Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Newman was born October 22, 1943 in Columbus, GA. He is the son of the late Burford Nelson Newman, Sr and Agnes Smith Newman. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include his wife Maxine Newman of Smiths Smiths Station, AL, children, Havelin Lindsey, Evelyn Moore, James Newman all of Pensacola, FL, Pollyanne Buckner, Christiane McClellan James Pollock all of Phenix City, AL, Joseph Pollock of Columbus, GA, two sisters, Shirley Nowling, Gail Etheridge both of Columbus, GA, numerous grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
