A visitation for family and friends for Mrs. Shannon will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Phenix City, 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867. Following the visitation for family and friends will be a celebration of life graveside service at 11:00 AM at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, Alabama.
Mrs. Shannon was born January 8, 1930 in Bettendorf, Iowa; daughter of the late Fred H Clifton and Gertrude Hill Clifton. She was a teacher for many years at Dixie Elementary School and Glenwood School in Phenix City, AL. She was Lutheran by faith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M. Lawrence Shannon, son, Steve Shannon, daughter, Janice Winkler, daughter, Judith Pike and sisters, Margaret McCaffrey, Alice Shipley and Irene Brown.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Shannon and wife, Sherri, daughters, Joan Marshall and Jennifer Goins; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express a special "thank you" to the Lakewood Health Facility and Staff for all of their care during this time.
