Edward Leroy Utley, 76, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Columbus, Georgia. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1:30pm at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Danny Courtney officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Utley was born December 21, 1943 in Augusta, Georgia; son of the late Clifford Thomas Utley and Margaret Ann Edwards Utley. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Civil Service. He was a member of Bethel Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Columbus, Georgia.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Utley.
Survivors include his wife, Diane B. Utley; children, Kevin Utley (Melissa), Steven Utley, Angela Gehrt (Harold), Tabatha Utley, Robin Relford, Eddie Utley (Nicole), Walter Odom III (Johnnie), Heather Odom Kennington, and Patrick Odom (Che); sisters, Betty Cooper and Donna Stoddard; brother, Jerry Utley (Mary); 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the John B. Amos Cancer Center in Columbus, Georgia.
