

James Elton Head, 77, of Phenix City, Alabama, died Monday April 23, 2012 . Funeral services will be held 1:00pm (EST) Thursday April 26th in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, AL. 36867 with the Reverends Charles Keown and Wayne Williams officiating. Interment with U.S. Navy military honors will in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Head was born November 12, 1934 in Phenix City, Alabama, son of the late J.B. Head and Vera Everidge Head. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and the Amen Choir. Mr. Head served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and retired from civil service at Ft. Benning after more than 20 years of service. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Carla Sanders.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sandra Head, daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Ralph Horne, grandson, James Sanders, great grandsons, Damon and Madon Sanders, all of Phenix City, brothers and sisters-in-law,
Varner and Jackie Head of Phenix City, Burrell and Betty Head of Marietta, GA., sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Joe Nemeth of Pine Log, Georgia, sister-in-law, Doris Hummel of Phenix City, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may to the Lakewood Baptist Church Amen Choir.
