Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 North, Phenix City, AL, 36870, with Pastor Travis Rigsby officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 3800 Hwy 431 North, Phenix City, AL, 36870. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Champion was born, October 6, 1947 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late James R. East, Sr. and Mary E. East. She was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church.

Other than her parents Mrs. Champion was preceded in death her husband, Henry H. Champion; brothers, James R. East and Otis East.

She is survived by her two sons, Joe Champion (Leslie) of Ellerslie, GA, Chuck Champion (Jennifer) of Valley, AL; two daughters, Kim Wagner of Phenix City, AL, Samantha Touchton (Chase) of Fort Benning, GA; grandchildren, Heather Cureton Champion (James) of Columbus, GA, David Powell (Elizabeth) of Valley, AL, Jason Powell (Maggie) of Pine Mountain, GA, Christin Doyal (Stephen) of Valley, AL, Emma Touchton of Fort Benning, GA, Raylyn Wagner of Phenix City, AL; great grandchildren, Gracie Cureton and Hannah Cureton of Columbus, GA, Bryce Powell, Carter Powell, and Beckly Powell all of Valley, AL, Kaden Powell and Gracie Powell of Pine Mountain, GA, Lindsey Doyal and Lance Doyal of Valley, AL; uncle, Effort Arnold (Shirley) of Phenix City, AL; sister-in-law, Pat East; many loving nieces and nephews; special friend, Stacy McGee.
