Mr. Jeffrey Armour Evans was born on March 5th, 1965 in Kansas City, Kansas. After moving to Georgia with his family in 1967, he attended local schools in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Decatur, Georgia before moving to Columbus, Georgia in 1975 where he would complete his education. After nearly a decade of working in the construction industries, Jeff attended and excelled at the Columbus, Georgia Police Academy before beginning his first job at the Columbus Metropolitan Airport in 1992. Subsequently, he worked for the Bibb City Police Department, as a Deputy Sheriff for the Marion County Sheriff's Department, and the Richland, Georgia Police Department where he served as a Captain. Mr. Evans served on the Metropolitan Narcotics Taskforce two different times, and assisted many other law enforcement entities with investigations and law enforcement operations. Six months after becoming a police officer, he married his wife of nearly thirty years Kathy Evans with whom he shares a love for family, community, and animals. Jeff Evans was pre-deceased by his father Dr. James Armour Evans, his mother Martha Sanburn Evans, and Grandparents, Dr. Armour and Dorothy Evans, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Wilma Sanburn. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife Kathy Evans, Step Mother Carmen Evans, and six siblings: Jennifer Evans Waugh; James David Evans, Julianna Kay Evans, Elizabeth Evans Saul, Cybill Evans Hunt, and Joseph Phillip Evans, all of Georgia, along with numerous nieces and nephews and family members whom he loved. He would die as an active serving police officer, having found his life's calling some thirty years ago.
The life of Jeff Evans will be honored on Friday, May 5, at 2 PM with visitation beginning at 12 noon for friends and family at Striffler Hamby on Macon Road in Columbus, Georgia.
