John C. O'Steen, 89 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his home. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Reverend Glen McCall and Reverend Marvin Minton officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL.
Mr. O'Steen was born February 15, 1927 in St. John's County, Florida; son of the late William R. O'Steen and Mary Hester Knowles. He was a member of Crawford Road Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was retired as assistant chief of the Phenix City Police Dept. and retired head of security from Phenix Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Lois Winell O'Steen, sons; Edward A. O'Steen and wife, Lisa, John Stephen O'Steen and wife, Jane, Grady Singletary and wife, Phyllis, daughters; Linda Carolyn Newman and husband, Frank, Cynthia Victoria McCall and husband, Glen, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
