

Lowell C. Harrell,71,GYSGT (Ret) of Omaha, Georgia died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus,Georgia. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 2:30 pm EST at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL. 36867
Mr. Harrell was born February 29, 1940 in Camden County, Georgia, son of the late Savant and Nora Harrell. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and Vietnam in which he received the National Defense Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnam Campaigns Metal, Presidential Unit Citation, Cross of Gallantry and Armed Forces Expeditionary Metal . After retiring with 20 years of service in Beaufort, SC, he made his career in law enforcement. He graduated from Camden County High School in 1958, was a member of Bickley Chapel in White Oak, GA and was a volunteer for Toys for Tots.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Hazel Horne Harrell of Omaha, GA, numerous brothers, children, step-children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.In lieu of flowers, monetary or toy donations may be made to the USMC Toys for Tots.
